Smart Cooktop Display: A 13.36-Inch In-Cell Touch Solution for Kitchen Control Panels

This application concept explores the integration of the ZC-134001-1001 into a smart kitchen cooktop control panel. The 13.36-inch in-cell TFT module combines a native resolution of 1200 × 1920, a specified typical luminance of 1000 cd/m², and MIPI display and I²C touch interfaces, providing a foundation for presenting cooking-zone information, heat settings, timers and appliance status in one interface.

01 / Challenge

Challenge

A smart cooktop interface needs to organize cooking-zone selection, heat settings, timers and appliance status into a clear visual hierarchy. A larger display provides room for separate information areas and consistent placement of frequently used controls.

The kitchen environment also introduces specific integration requirements. Users may view the screen from the front or at an angle, while ambient lighting and cover-glass reflections affect the visibility of numbers and icons. Installation near cooking areas requires assessment of heat sources, available space and the display’s own heat generation.

The engineering focus is to bring readability, touch integration, mechanical fit and operating temperature into one design review, aligning the display module with the intended control-panel layout.

02 / Solution

Solution

The proposed configuration uses the ZC-134001-1001 as its display platform. Four design priorities guide its integration into the appliance.

A larger layout for cooking-zone information

The 13.36-inch display and native 1200 × 1920 resolution provide space for cooking-zone status, heat levels, remaining time and notifications. The interface can emphasize the selected zone while keeping frequently used controls separate from secondary information.

For a landscape installation, image rotation and touch-coordinate mapping can be evaluated within the host system. Appliance control logic and specific interface functions are implemented by the appliance controller and software.

Optical specifications for readability assessment

The mechanical drawing specifies a typical luminance of 1000 cd/m². The optical table lists a typical contrast ratio of 1500:1 and typical viewing angles of 85° in each direction at CR ≥ 10.

These values provide inputs for the design of numerical readouts, icons and status indicators. Readability in the assembled appliance should be assessed with the selected cover glass, surface reflections, installation angle and kitchen lighting.

In-cell construction with defined display and touch interfaces

The module uses an in-cell TFT structure, a 4-lane MIPI display interface and an I²C touch interface with interrupt and reset signals.

This configuration defines the connection paths for integrating display and touch with the host platform. Engineering review should cover host output, initialization timing, touch-driver support, and the relationship between image orientation and touch coordinates.

Mechanical and thermal planning for the control area

The module has a 193.65 × 299.90 mm outline and a nominal body thickness of 5.51 mm. Its drawing also defines rear mounting features, providing a reference for the display opening, support structure and fastening arrangement. Installation clearance should account for rear projections and cable routing.

The specified operating range is −20°C to +70°C. Appliance integration should evaluate the display’s position relative to cooking heat, heat-transfer paths and backlight heat generation, then provide suitable thermal separation and heat-dissipation space.

Technical Specifications

Item Specification

Values are based on the supplied preliminary specification. The optical table is marked tentative. Luminance is specified as a typical value in the drawing; the backlight table lists the same value at IF = 420 mA. Display performance after cover-glass integration and final assembly should be confirmed for the selected configuration.

Reliability Requirements

Test Specified Condition
High-temperature operation 70°C for 120 hours
Low-temperature operation −20°C for 120 hours
High-temperature storage 80°C for 120 hours
Low-temperature storage −30°C for 120 hours
Humidity 40°C / 90% RH for 120 hours
Thermal shock −30°C for 0.5 hour → 25°C for 5 minutes → 80°C for 0.5 hour; 10 cycles

These conditions provide inputs for prototype verification planning. Actual sample performance should be documented in the corresponding test records.

03 / Result

Result

This application concept establishes a display configuration for prototype integration review. It combines a 13.36-inch high-resolution layout for cooking-zone and status information, in-cell construction with MIPI and I²C interfaces for host integration, and defined mechanical dimensions and temperature limits for appliance design.

Prototype development can then focus on cover-glass design, interface readability, touch performance, installation clearance and actual module temperature, adapting the display configuration to the specific cooktop structure.

Key Takeaway

A cooktop display should be evaluated together with its interface layout, display and touch connections, and thermal conditions at the installation position. The ZC-134001-1001 provides defined dimensional, optical and interface inputs for that integration process.
